I am opening a blog soon. I want to be able to do a post, and then have a link to some kind of photo gallery with pictures related to that post, how can I do that? If you know what I am talking about could you post an example of a blog using it?

Well... what I would like to do is post something like "today I had lunch at Papa's Blue Whale restaurant", write a brief description of how lunch was and then be able to post 8 photos of the restaurant.

Get a flickr.com account. They're owned by yahoo and I'm guessing they're not going anywhere for a while.

install this plugin on your website:

    http://www.randombyte.net/blog/2005/11/20/falbum-056/

This is the album plugin that basically pulls all the flickr photos and statically inserts them into your website.

    Like mine here:

    http://www.franklinfamily.org/photos/

    Then use this plugin:

    http://tantannoodles.com/toolkit/wp-flickr-post-bar/

To intigrate flickr photos easily into your site.

So basically what I do is upload photos to flickr, put them into a set which auto populates them into the webpage. Then I make a post and insert them with the flickr bar page. If you configure it correctly it's the easiest way to do things.

Trust me I looked around FOREVER for good photo gallery software.

Good Luck and I hope this helps.

That sounds similar to shoemoney's blog. He has photo gallery's hosted on his site. You could create a gallery, then have a link in your post to that gallery on your site. Not sure what he uses though.

He mentioned the plug-in one time, but I don't remember where I saw the link. If I can find it, I'll post it here.

It's not letting me even post a link now until I have 10 posts.

The best part about using the flickr.com thing, the way I have it set up is that the photos are stored on flickrs servers so you're actually hotlinking and not using your space or bandwidth.

Okay here's an example post that I've made using my system. It took me about 15 seconds!

I think shoemoney and Shawn both use wordpress with gallery2. Do a search for wpg2. I found the install complexity a little heavy for me.

It seems you'll need this too for the plugin to work:
    http://gallery.menalto.com/

I'm actually thinking about installing it on my blog....I'll see how hard it is...:)

I think it boils down to hosting the images. If you want to host them, use the Gallery2 plugin. If you want to have them hosted elsewhere, use the Flickr plugin. For why Fryman wanted, I think the only option is the Gallery2 plugin as it can post the image right into the post it sounds like. I use the flickr one, just so I don't have to deal with hosting the images, bandwidth, etc.

Well I've tried just about every other WP photo plugin and wasn't really excited by them (none have bulk upload tools) so I'm now installing Gallery2. It's a pretty large program setup and using ftp takes a long time, ugh.

I will post more once I dig into the configuration and let you know how it goes.
