Does this URL format have any effect on SEO? http://www.sitename.com/category/subject/3 http://www.sitename.com/category/subject/328 etc (having a number at the end of the URL)
Best sticking to searchable relevant terms imho - if the number has meaning it will count - whereas if not it is irrelevant.
Best is to customize your URL's according to title...don't use numbers at the end which is never going to help you in any manner.
"328" don't use this type of URL but if you use keywords so you can get ranking so better is use keywords replace to 328
It is best to have just relevent words in the URL when possible but if you add numbers to that then it's not to big of a deal.
best code for wordpress permalink structure is: %category%/%postname%/ i'm not sure what you are trying to get at with the numbers. do you think people go to google and type in random numbers as well in their searches? it is not likely to help your rankings, i think.
It is way better to use the title or at list a part of the title (which contains the keywords) in the url.
Thx for your feedback, the number is there to speed up the database, make it easier to fetch the right article based on serial #, google bot likes fast servers and this helps load times.. I researched a bit and learned that having a number at the end of my URL won't decrease SEO linkworthyness since I have the keyterms I am aiming for part of the URL as well..
url format may or may not affect seo but it can impact the visiters on your site. Suppose some one types a search term that you are targetting and a visitor checks your listing in the result, he is more likely to go to a site that presents it like this www.sitename.com\catagory\topic rather than www.sitename.com\catagory\76
