Members who quite obviously only post for self-promotion of their own sites, that never really add any usefulness to their posts etc This is something that really peeves me off, what about everyone else? This is relating moreso to the business orientated forums on DP, not so much the hangout ones.
I agree 100%. There is nothing wrong with a little self promotion here and there but there are members where every single post is only done with the intention to lead visitors to their own sites. I guess that is what the "report this post" and the reputation feature are there for after all.
Im glad I am not the only one with the pet peeve. After having launched a forum community site about 6 months ago, and after having put a ton of effort into marketing it to get it where it is today (as Shawn has done for DP + more) its like a stab in the back when you get members like that just abusing you like that. Thats how I see it maybe Im being overly critical
I think he was referring to one of your friends but I'm sure he will clarify it for you. P.S.: have you taken your pills today?
Wow, I have to admit after being part of a few forums, I've become immune to most 'self-promotion' posts. But.... Now that you mentioned it, I'll probly notice it more. thx, tom
Are you referring to the promotional deals I offer for my directory in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum? If you find that inappropriate it further highlights how much of a 2-year old you really are. Ministrel with you witty little comments you think your king shit but really your just a shit kunt (sorry to the ladies)
No, dcristo. I wasn't referring to you at all. That's why my post said, "Ah, Toots. I think the thread was referring to you." FYI, Toots = sitetutor
Boys, settle down. I'll tell you about some other forum ettiquette, never repeat your signature on a page - and you both do that And yes, I know who I thought of ... Sarah
What really pisses me off is seeing people with a sig in size 5 with red bold letters. And I agree with you, sarahk, one sig per page should be more than enough.
Right on! There's something going on right now about a frog which I gather is from a telco ad. I don't know if it's a USA thing and I'm sure it's terribly funny but when I see that bright red sig on the posts I don't even bother to read the post. Sarah
And what about those that make 'Introduction-runs'? They crawl through the last 2 pages of intro's, regardless of how old and then post "Welcome... " one after the other. It's fine to welcome someone IMO but you can show a bit more interest. I personally only welcome them if their intro or nick gets my attention.
I think I'm possibly one of the only people on here that is here just for the chit chat and has no site or anything to promote.
It's all about balance. Some people go overboard and because something "seems to work", they don't stop until everyone gets sick of it. It's all about give and take. Help out the forum and be a part of a great community. mella, you do a lot, that's why you're #1 for rep, dammit
Not for much longer lol! I'm apparently being way too ruthless and honest in my posts as of late as I'm getting a whollllllle bunch of negative rep lately hehe Yes TOPS30 There is one big culprit of the intro welcome whoring, mentioning no names..(ANUSHA). she trails through the past 40 intro thread's and welcomes them all saying the exact same thing. She has also been known to welcome the same person more than once in one thread. I'm onto her game!!
I wonder if you can save searches, pass them on and recycle them... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=371004
