you have a directory and folks submit to it, heres an example: description: and the category submitted to is: Beauty Products so what do you do? do you reject it or place it into an appropriate category? why can't people pay attention to what they are doing, please. log splitter in the Beauty section?
Im guessing its a free submission? it does take the buscuit a bit doesn't it. If its a paid submission i really wouldn't mind where they have submitted it to. Depending on my mood (free submission) the quality of the site and it could populate an otherwise empty category. Plus deleting it is about the same effort as moving it.
if you have some time then i think placing it in the proper category will be a good decision but if you dont have that much time deleting it will be the easiest and fastest way...
if you have to many job.. just reject that link, don't waste time for that spammer.. i think he/she use automated submission...
Well as alluded to already the answer is different for different directories. If you have a free directory the answer is probably to decline it. If you have a pay for review directory then you are being paid to review the site. If the site itself is acceptable then you edit the description, location and anything else needed and approve it. If the site itself is not acceptable then like the free directory - you decline it.
When I see such submissions, I wonder if I should start advising people to use submission software instead. I am sure even softwares can choose better categories than this. @swedal: Agree with you on paid for review directory front. Of course editor still needs to see if the website is acceptable.
if they cant even find the correct category what chance that they will have thought out their site content also?
If hyper had his way he would launch a missile and remove a whole nation just to make them understand that in his directory "no spam, means no spam"
Hello... If they are too stupid to figure out whats going on then dont waste your time.. especially if its "free" laterz malcolm
Reject. It would save me fixing all that wrong capitalisation and inappropriate promotional guff as well. That's their three strikes already, without even looking at the title or any other details.
Reject it, its spam, if a real person or a non-paid person was submitting they would take the time to find the right spot for the site, help save the internet and make it a better place by rejecting apparent spam, that's what I do.
I say reject it. If the person can not select the appropriate category (although I have no idea where log splitters go) then they don't get the listing. /*tom*/
I am now rejecting most submissions to my directory. They mostly useless sites. (I hate to admit it, but I now have some sympathy for the problems DMOZ has!)
It seems like everyone has their own idea of beaty That's so nice of you to treat submissions so seriously and take your time consider what's best to do... Dunno, you could have a look at the site itself and then decide whether you would like to see it listed in your directory.
I reject them if they can not take the time to post to a related category.. or read my submission rules on my directory. Tom
