Does this mean the site is Sandboxed?

OK, I'm suspecting my new site might be sandboxed. Here are some details:

    1) I seach for the keyword, which is pretty much the url, and the site doesn't appear in any SERPs... not even up to page 60. There's some good information on there and there are enough backlinks, I'd expect, to at least rank under #500...

    2) If I put:
    site:http://www.domain-name.com/
into goolge, I get a bunch of page listings, but nothing for the root. So I'll see:
    http://www.domain-name.com/page1
    http://www.domain-name.com/page2

    but not:
    http://www.domain-name.com/

With other sites, I see the root domain url.

    3) If I put the plain domain name into google, I get nothing - it doesn't show up.

Am I right in thinking that (a) the site is in the google index, but (b) it is in the sandbox?

If so, how long should I expect it to be there?
We set the site up in the middle of November...

    Cheers, Gavin

You site may not just be sandboxed, but rather penalized.

If your website is really sandboxed, you wont get your inner pages indexed. You have a couple of different head sections in your home page source code.

In one of them, it says this -
    <meta name="robots" content="noindex">

It will be eliminated by the search engines in the point of no index. check it out...

    Hey thanks,

    I'll check that out.

So what's the difference between a sandbox and being penalised?

    Cheers, Gavin

    helpdesk is all wrong.

Being sandboxed means that you're included in the SERP, but not ranking well for your keywords. It's a way of like, showing Google that you deserve ranking well.

Being penalized means that you basically get your website removed from the Google index.

Yes your site is in a big problem. Most probably your site is in google send box and it is possible your penalization never be removed. so you have to start work on new domain. and weight for penalization removel.

So, do any of the tests that I listed indicate whether this is a sandbox OR penalisation situation?

Are you saying that if you're penalised, you never recover from that state?

Do people have examples of how long they've waited?

    Thanks, Gavin

Note sure what you mean there? About the sale?

I think the site might actually be coming out of the sandbox...

    give your website url.
whether your website has enough content.
i have same problem backlink is good if i checked with keyword i will check above 50 pages my website will not be listed. Then i find the solution there is not have enough content to my website. so i changed the content. for each page i kept minimum 300 words with 3 to 5 density. after one month my website is listed in 2 nd page of google

Nice one! Well, I think the content is OK actually. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing... I think the site is perhaps being cleared of whatever state it is in. Some of those tests that I mentioned above have changed now. The root level domain is shown in the results.

    Thanks.
