Since it looks like google is updating does this mean a change in ranking as far as keywords goes. It seems like people chase PR...I am chasing rankings. Does PR translate into keyword rankings ? If someone could elaborate on this it would be great. Thanks
No PR is based on links pointing to your site also called back links. Google assigns a number from PR1 to PR10 based on the quality and quantity of your back links. The factors as to your ranking in the search engine results are a combination of many other things such as competition, fresh keyword loaded content, how well you site is built, back links, and many other factors. PR is just a small factor in that equation and by itself means very little unless you plan to sell links or are trying to sell your site. Good PR does not by itself mean your SERP will improve or that your traffic will improve. I also do not yet believe the PR update is in process, it seems to be about a couple of weeks yet.
PR does not equate to rankings or traffic....SERPS are updated everyday..not the 3 to 4 times a year that pagerank is.....your site will see the benefits of links long before toolbar pagerank is updated
PR just one of the small factors to consider your SERPs. Lots of people also chasing SERPs though. most of people who are chasing PR probably chasing money from selling links. XD
You are doing the right thing by chasing rankings and not PR. Good ranks give you traffic, not good PR.
