Hi, i want to know whether i can use designs from other website and then combining with another idea, can it called copycat?

can i be summon and violate any rights?

For example: i have make evolution from one blog design and want to use it at my blog header. Was it possible? does im violating any rights?

Im not copy 100% but maybe 50% of the idea, which is im comnbining many website design to create a new one (A+B+C = mine).

So how the situation? Do you got any idea?

Do you have a specific URL that you're considering doing this from?

It's fine - it's what any good artist does.

Call it 'inspiration', not copying - change it enough and make your site unique in its own way and no-one can say anything.

I often incorperate pieces from other peoples designs in to my own websites - I take one idea from there, match it with another concept from there, and put together my own ideas for an original looking site.

    It's called design. :)

There's no straight answer to this question. If you're using elements/content verbatim and repurposing them, that's copyright infringement. If you're copying the style of a couple sites, but creating something unique as a result, that's inspiration and not only legitimate, but a common practice. If you're creating source files for objects that are strikingly similar to ones created by someone else, there's a lot of gray area, and the only way to tell would be to look at the individual item(s) in question and render a judgment.

I'd seek permission first. Then give credit to the origional design on a credits page.

i've had a big site steal one of my designs/script ideas, however after sending a polite email helped change the layout but they still kept the general functionality (which still annoys me, because they claim credit for the whole site). so yeha ask for permission i doubt anybody would say no.

Honestly, I have take the design from problogger.net because im also blog about bloging things in my country languange and think his blog header arrangement was great.

So now, what's ur guys opinion?

Did i need to inform website A, website B, and website C that im taking their header design, their footer design or picts?

    thanks in advance :)
