This one gets 18 000 exact searches virtually everything on the first page is a youtube video. Nothing on the first few pages has the full long tail keyword in the title. When I do an intitle and inanchor search it brings back 200 results. Would you say this is low comp and easy to rank high for quickly?
I bet it is hard to rank for if you see search results with all you tube videos. More than likely the keywords are something best expressed visually. If you give it a try, however, it would be very interesting to report your results.
From what you've described, it looks to me that the competition is high and Google seems to be ranking YouTube videos very high up the SERPs once again (there was a brief time a few months ago that videos seemed to have ranked lower). I believe it's still possible to rank your keyword on the first page, but that will take a lot of time, patience, money and hard work, such as getting high quality relevant backlinks with high pr, and most especially quality content. I'm basing these suggestions on the fact that I was able to rank a youtube video for a certain keyword with about 5,000 exact local searches per month to number one on google, above an authority site with a high PR and domain age. It showed me how google prioritizes youtube videos right now. Basically, you may need to create an authority-type site with lots and lots of social signals. Google loves these right now.
Yes, the low competition keywords are usually easier to rank. A lot of internet marketers use Youtube to rank the long tail keywords at Google without backlinks.
search for keywords that have a balance between search popularity and competition. i.e somewhere around medium search popularity and medium competition will be excellent
Nothing with 18,000 exact searches sounds easy to rank for. But in this case, Google's giving you a very clear picture of what they value as important for this term. Give it a shot.
The fact that only youtube results are showing on search results tell us that the keyword is related more with videos. So, if you have videos on your website or if you have a youtube channel, you could promote that.
18 000 exact searches is not a small number. Check out adwords keywords tool to see what is the competition - high or low. However, I think that you can rank it quickly, if you are using the right methods and links, of course Good luck.
Its good to target long tail keywords because they are low in competition, have good search volume, drive good traffic to your site and especially its rank quickly on search engines.
