Say I buy a domain name: thegreatpics.com . Also assume that greatpics.com is already taken by someone else and has a site setup. Lastly assume that there are a number of searches (1 million) for both the phrases "great pics" and "the great pics" Now would be worth buying and setting up a site on thegreatpics.com OR in the searches for "the great pics" the word 'the' would be ignored and all the traffic would simply go to greatpics.com I hope I was clear. Thanks
Every keyword matters in a domain name. So if a user types" the great pics" on google than you should be the first one that he will spot.
That was a very clear question. And 'the' matters in google SEO. So if you have thegreatpic and one searches for thegreatpic you would be the first on the list.
I have to admit just those 3 letter can make alot of differances between your domain and the competitors, most people would only type 'great pics' as a keyword i am not say that no one would not use your combination but very few would.Of course i could well be wrong but logic tells me otherwise.
I have a domain with the word 'the' and let's say it's 'thekeyword.com' first I build links for 'the keyword' and I got to the top of the result very easily. but for the 'keyword' I wasn't even in first 100 for a while. then after 8 months of SEO for 'keyword' I got in to #5 - 7 in all countries. here's the traffic result from G analytics 'thekeyword' - 20 - 30 per day keyword - 500 - 1000 per day so, even you have the domain 'thekeyword.com' just focus on 'keyword'. very few people use 'the' when searching. even I never use it. Good luck with your SEO!
as the domain greatpics(dot)com has already been taken by another so you can go with thegreatpics(dot)com because it is easy to remember and pronounce . It matters a lot how easily users can remember your domain name so that when they visit it next time they don't need to search for the it in the search engine. As friends ask to their friends tell me any pics site ...hey that is thegreatpics(dot)com. It doesn't leads to negative effect if you are using "the" in your domain.
Yes, it sure does make a difference, but depends on whether the "keyword" without "the" is already competitive or not.
the word "the" should work when you search the keyword. But in Google, it says that words like "how" and "why" will be ignored.
