does the number of pages in your website affect your ranking?I mean to say will a page from mini site have better ranking because the site to which it belongs is smaller in overall size.

Good question. I have wondered about this for a long time but never ask. It will be interesting to read what some of the more knowledgeable people have to write. We have one site, www.announcements-shoppe.com that is fairly large but few good positions, and anther site, www.holiday-invitations.com that relatively small with good positions.

Maybe the size is not important, but the tigheter the niche the better chance it has of ranking well. I am not too sure on this though. I am assuming this to be the case because it will have lots of similar keywords.

Think of it like this: Are your chances of winning a lotto better if you buy one ticket or ten? Same sort of thing, the more pages, the more chances you have to rank for long tail searches - ones that perhaps you never even thought of ranking for.

Now if you're asking whether you'll rank better for one particular term if you have more pages, I'd still say yes. If interlinked properly, you'll have alot more internal pages pointing to that particular page you want ranked with that special term. They don't have as much value as an external link, but it sure can't hurt.

Google acts like a woman lately,... unpredictable,... so it must be lol

    All kidding aside..

Yes, size does matter. As long as it is about the same subject. More content means more backlinks deep into your site (if you have quality content) making you an authority eventually.

The more pages, the more chances you have to use a wider range of keywords and phrases. Google ranks pages not sites.

The longer Google spends at your page the more good information it returns

    Hello Seo_anand...
yeah if your page size is too huge like 60K + then it may hurt your rankings.. because when crawlers come to crawl your website if your page loads slower.. it'll go away it wont wait much thats wat i heard n i experienced..
so make sure your webpage size is not more than 30K for sure.. and trust me you'll luv to see your rankings on SE's

This article shows where indexing stopped the big 3 in a recent trial. Summary: Yahoo! indexed 210Kb, Google 520Kb and MSN a staggering 1.1Mb of text.

If you mean size of website, it inderectly affects since the bigger the site, the longer the website has been online.

If you mean size of webpage/post, then i suppose there is a limit.

I think that if they are indexed they are bound to rank well. Problem will only be if the page doesn't get indexed out right.
