I read somewhere that if your domain has a registration length of less than 1 year than Google will take that into account when deciding your placement in the search engines. Is this really true or is a myth that somebody came up with. I don't recall reading this anywhere on the Google website.
I have also heard the same just before 2 days regarding one of my client website... An seo called me from Mumbai and said that your website is good but you should book or renew it for next 5 years. it will help you out in seo.
godaddy claims that 5 and 10 year purchases " LOOK BETTER " to all search engines because it shows that you are not going anywhere for awhile and also that you are not just some SPAM website . . . which sort of makes sense . . . i have bought some for 5 and most for 2 but can say that i have seen it easier to get ranked for stronger keywords with my domains that are bought out for longer.
Of course they're going to say that. More money in their pocket. But the question here is whether or not it's actually true.
LOL you are right but it doesnt really matter they have never lied about anything else and just type in Search Engine Optimization and call the first few that are on the first page and they will tell you the same thing PS I ADDED MY DATING SITE TO YOUR DIRECTORY
I think its more of a marketing ploy from registrars. Age is the important one. I'm wondering if private vs public registration matters though?
I don't think registration length has any influence on ranking. why do I have to pay 5 years in advanced?
I believe registration period is a factor, but a very minor factor, in rankings. A crappy site with a 10 year registration period is still crappy and will rank lower than a site with good content and backlinks. It's not a short cut or magic pill for high rankings.
