I'm about to buy a domain on an author, but I can't get his first name and last name in order of the domain, but I can get a domain with his last name first and his first name last. For example: I can't get www.nathanielhawthorne.com, but I can get www.hawthornenathaniel.com. People will search "nathaniel hawthorne" in the search engine, and not his name reversed. How much difference would this make? Or should I just not get the domain with his last name first and opt for www.nathanielhawthornehome.com or something?
have you tried "-" between names? otherwise Quality inbound linking campaign with first name second name as anchor text would boost your ranking without any trouble.
Yes, www.firstname-lastname.com is already registered, the only combo for the name that's left is: www.lastnamefirstname.com. I can't decide whether to use that or just stick to their plain name with something added at the end: www.firstnamelastnamehome.com. The first idea, contains the exact keywords I want to target with no trash, but they are in a backwards action, while the second idea is easy to remember, but it's longer with trash at the end.
I'd go for some variation like N-Hawthorne.com I would not put in home at the end, this URL is long enough as it is.
Would it not be better to www.lastnamefirstname.com if I can get it? That's what I'm asking. Wouldn't it be better than www.firstnamelastnamewhatever.com?
Well, in your case the combination lastnamefirstname is a bit confusing, and adding something at the end is just not pretty (and I prefer short URL's anyhow). So I'd go with N-hawthorne.com or something similar. How about a .net domain or .us or something?
