Does the method you use to create a site matter with the SE?

I have been told that the "method" you use to make a website now matters to the Search Engines.

Specifically I was told that if you use FP or DW you are pretty much losing from the beginning.

I was told to use Joomla or Drupal in order to be on good terms with the SE.

If you are the person who told me this, please don't respond lol I really am looking for others opinions to clear this up.

It was explained to me that this is a way of making the competition narrower from those who are serious about web development and those who just throw up a site.

I am not a "big dog" in this business and would like to remain just with my basic HTML and CSS development - but also don't want to lose out in the end.

My not knowing the facts on this subject is creating a lot of frustration for me.
    Please clear this up.

I am enjoying the workings of wordpress these days. I just updated an old html site to a nicely flowing wordpress script. So much easier to keep organized :) and I believe it to be SE friendly.

Most CMS's nowadays properly apply correct HTML etc, and most CMS's offer SEO addins. Whilst these use to help by themselves (when they were uncommon), nowadays EVERY website is practically run by these, so the advantages are nullified.

Organic white hat SEO (link building, the key is the content) is the only 'realistic' option. There are no shortcuts.

Aren't those softwares for having shortcuts in building a site, or doing it more simple?

Seriously, I don't know how the software used will cause you a penalty??

I switched to wordpress because I WAS wishing for a neat and easy shortcut :p.

I wanted to try dreamweaver buy my pc does not have enough ram to run it

As for front page, I am lost. -well, not lost, but there's something about it that I find ugly.. lol

I have coffee cup and it also has wysywig (spelling?) so you can move stuff around while seeing the placement. However, when I view the code afterwards, it really looks a mess!! :D

Joy - I meant I was not looking for a SEO short cut as was implied.

I also have coffeecup, but I love mine lol -

to simplify this - I am asking does the method you use to create your web site matter as far as the SE ?

As long as the generated markup is mostly valid and not "full of errors" then it doesn't matter.

I love my coffee cup too! :)

Editing in real time adds lots of weird codes, I would assume the SE ignore these?

    Sorry!

I will go out on a limb and say NO! It all lies within the PERSON writing the code, not the software :D

Ready made scripts or software may oppose your own knowledge from spread in web scripting. Doing anything independently is much better than using other software to start your website. When you choose those one from the starting day of this web business, you'll fully become dependable above those and as far as I think, your mind never tell you to learn anything new regarding to making a new website with you own programming skill. You can do anything favor to SE if you use and do own skills. Some software like DW, FP etc. are window base software where is very easy to do anything i.e. inserting table, making font adjustment, alignment and lot many things. But we often ignore the source code of the it or lots many things that we do with those software without facing any problem but if someone ask me to retrieve a database result by using NOTEPAD, I can't do it. May be we're familiar to make a webpage for retrieving, posting data to database with those software but in actual fact, we don't have any knowledge to do something on NOTEPAD or without using FP, DW etc. So I don't say that using those are always may decrease your knowledge but if you only do all the things on those software without looking its source code or HTML View how those actually work or what kind of code need to be implement to make display like table, database data, posting data etc., you may definitely lose your knowledge of basic or may be complex coding. BUT I RECOMMENDED YOU TO USE IT.

I'm in no way a 'big dog', but simply using logic, I think it's just stupid to say that you lose at start using FP or DW.

They allow you to manipulate the basic HTML code in easier way than Joomla or Wordpress, so basically I think that from a mere SEO point of view, FP/DW > CMS.
