Hi guys, I have this query which has been in my mind for the past few days. Does the geographical location of your hosting affect the websites in terms of SEO ? Fyi, I am currently using hosting located in my country ( Malaysia ), where the service has been great but am thinking of using other hosting services in countries where I plan to do my affiliate marketing. ( UK, US ) Thank you.
Yes it does matter. If you want to rank on google.com, you'll want a US host. If you want to rank on google.co.uk, you'll want a uk-based host. I'm not saying you can't rank on .com if you host outside of the US, but Google highly prefers sites that are within the country of the TLD search. Our hosting is based out of the US and we're giving 30 days free to all new customers if you want to give it a shot, see my signature for details.
If you target US audience then you better use US host because the speed is better. Plus the IP will influence the SEO ranking also. Use a dedicated IP will help rank better in SEO.
Yes, it does matter but not that much, as i have hosted one of my Canadian based site on US based server, site is well ranked and producing handy sales.
The location of hosting matters somewhat but I don't think that it will significantly effect your ranking in search engines. If you have thousands of websites linking to you and unique content then you are going to get indexed regardless of where your website's resolving to.
if your market in US or UK... may be you can try hosting with data center in washington, texas or seattle...
