It is very diffcult to upload my site to the DMOZ, I tried several times, and I gave up finally.

Does the DMOZ really important to the rank? If I don't use the DMOZ, will I get a better rank?

Helps with SEMOZ page strength which is becoming more popular.

It has an individual section for are you dmoz listed?

    I'd say yes it does.

I see lots of big directories with huge backlinks and great Page-Strength are doing great without DMOZ listing. Never bothered to even submit my directories there.

I think DMOZ is important but I would not spend my whole time focusing on them. Submit amd move on. they are notrious for taking months to approve a listing and I am not sure if there is any key to getting it quicker. Just focus on building good content and traffic and if they approve you fine, if not you did everything else right.

It helps a lot in SEO. Just go to DMOZ and see the search engine list at the bottom, get in listed in DMOZ will help you a lot in the rankings of these search engines. The only problem is that it's very difficult to get indexed by DMOZ.

Not difficult, it just takes time, :). Even if each editor did a hundred reviews a day (in our spare time), there are hundreds of thousands sites suggestions waiting and more pouring in daily.

It can take up to a year to get your site listen. As long as you have a quality site, your chances are high to get listed.
