Does the coop make that much of a difference?

I joined the coop on Friday and it assigned me a weight of 350. Today I checked my SERPS and noticed that a high number of keywords have sprung to the top 5 positions in Google.

Would a weight of 350 really cause such a big difference?

 

Depends on the KW.

Not for 'Microsoft', but can be the case for 'cycling blind egyptian' or similar.

I started with 1000 and got some real nice results on good 2-3 word phrases.

Here's my tips for avoiding hassle:

1) Only run ads from sites you don't really mind getting whacked.
2) Don't run outgoing ads on pages you have incoming ads for.
3) Don't increase per-ad weight to quickly.
4) Always ad variations on anchor text.
5) Study the current AllInAnchor #1's link quantity and don't overkill it based on that.
6) Get referrals, their weight bonus irons out fluctuation.

 

To be more specific, it didn't have anything to do with (or very little) what you are asking about in this post. There is a major reshuffle going on at the moment - most of it yesterday - and it is just coincidence that you just started using the Coop Network.

 

Well it looks like a lot of the more irrelevant sites are moving down the list right enough. When I submitted to some directories, the page that was linking to my site was on a few occasions higher in the SERPs than the actual page.

 

I am waiting for the dust to settle a bit until I really start to dig as most of the datacenters are still drastically different for me. Im all green in the ones that count but Im not counting the chickens yet.

PS. Its not to say the Coop doesn't make a difference, its just that its not that quick in Google for that little amount of weight and certainly not that drastic.

I've doubled the number of daily unique visitors to my sites. Keyword Tracker shows me that it's making a dramatic difference.

Overnight in some keywords where inbound links are very difficult to obtain and the terms are not that competitive.

In about a month for the more difficult ones - and the links that are very deep. There was also a time period in the last month where a lot of sites were showing no ads, so that may have had something to do with the longer time frame.

My keywords are not like palm pilot or anything super-competitive.

 

I only have one site so I had to take a chance and join to Coop
I have seen a lot of good changes with Google Yahoo and MSN

I still fear that my only site would get burned from reading many stories on here
Still I hope it will work for me and my keywords low grade keywords

Same here...been doing the coop for around 1-2 months and nothing in Google or Yahoo. I have good weight, but backlinks are only showing up in MSN. #2 for my targeted KW there though

 

This is what I have learnt so far.

Optimize offpage & On page normally. Get the same number of backlinks as possible.

More you have optimized, less you need weight to get on the top. Even 1 weight of 500 can do wonders.

update:

I am now #10 in Google for a keyword that I have been trying 5 years for
I became really obsessed trying to get it the last few years notice last January below... and todays result using the Coop I was stuck in the 20s and went to 13 when I started the coop just a week ago

my keyword only has 16,200,000 google results

If I was not a poor man last year I would have paid anything just to see this for one day

Hey is it not taboo or bad luck to tell your keywords?

I can't tell you my keyword if you search hard enough you'll get it but here is a hint Haichi is my keyword in Japanese thats how obsessed I have been

#1 is one of the sections for the cia.gov's "The World Factbook"

I will keep trying it would be nice if I got the top 5 and it stuck for years as I have seen all the other sites do for this keyword

 

lol I'm not a superstitous person. I believe people can be lucky but not because of anything they've done.

Thanks for the story. It does fill me with confidence that it will be of benefit to me. I dont have much weight though at the moment.

 

We have moved up from NIL to 32 for our main keyword phrase in 1 week.

 

for me, the co-op has worked great in MSN and Yahoo. I used like 60k weight for some of my websites and the traffic has increased. Looks good to me. I do not know how 350 weight would have done great in Google.
