Hello, Well, I have a wordpress blog and I mostly enter Tags in it. Like if the keyword is Results I use Tags like Results India, Results America, Live Results, Results Out -- Just an Example. So Do you think these can be considered as SPAM by Google recent updates ? as I enter Tags in which I change only the "keyword" and other things are same mostly. So Just wanted to know if this can be harmful for my blog. Thanks, Ibuyer
I don't think so it is going to be harmful for your blog... Goggle started to avoid Keyword tag from their search engine algothirom. So you are safe.
tags allow you to link related content on your blog, if you put random spammy tags, it will link content in unrelated way, making it less valuable in search engine eyes
Well, Content is related to Tags offcourse. As My Example all my tags are related to content which is about Results.
i think you are confusing meta keywords and tags. meta keywords - keywords you want your page to be found by (although largely ignored by search engines) post tags - is like "post category" and allows link and organize your related posts together
If you mean meta keyword tags, then just don't use it. Google ignores it (and has for a long time). Bing uses it as a spam indicator. There is nothing positive to be gained from the meta keywords tag. Further info: http://searchengineland.com/the-met...at-bing-why-only-spammers-should-use-it-96874
Aww.. I am talking about the Wordpress Tags. The ones we type whenever we post a article in Wordpress. It comes in right side ?
AH OK, tags are OK if done right, however using them excessively doesn't look pretty for the visitor. Also, avoid "tag clouds" as these look like keyword stuffing (i.e. consider the Penguin update). Your example of "Results India, Results America, Live Results, Results Out" looks more like a tactic to populate a post with keywords/keyword rich links. As a visitor, I would like it and feel they are irrelevant. I can't imagine Google would see such a repetition as positive either (either neutral, as in it will ignore it, or negative, which is self-explanatory). If I had a restaurant reviews site and chose to use tags (although in all honesty I wouldn't personally use them) then I would tag a post about an Italian restaurant that also has vegetarian options with just two tags: "Italian", "Vegetarian". It makes sense and gets the point across quickly and easily. Good luck.
I don't think there is any problem in using tag but you need to be carefully, don't over optimize same tag soo many times.
I would just use the tags america, results, india, live Then people can visit your tag pags for the most relevent results that they want to see. As an extra tip, add a unique description to your tags and make sure it displays at the top of the tag pages for extra Google love I've seen tag pages rankings pretty high in the SERPS
If you're going to use the tags feature in Wordpress and are concerned with SEO, just be aware of how many appear on a given page. It might be smart to make sure they are nofollowed so that you're not leaking out to much page value to the destination pages of the tags. A good rule of thumb is to have <100 links on a page, but also, don't give away too much page value, you want to hold on to some for the page itself.
