It will generate traffic and possible get your site indexed. But digg changed the way they link to your sites, they are opening an iframe and nofollow link. So..from a SEO point of view its actually not that great.

Not many benefits, I'd go looking for some high PR pages instead.

When using Digg, remember not to only bookmark your site. They will view it as spam and will block your site
    Remember to diversify your bookmarks

It's great that you submit your pages to digg. But it's not enough to get seo effect. Submit your pages to 100 or even more social bookmarking sites. That will definitely help.

    I totally agree.

The secret people, is to submit to Digg when your site has controversial/popular/funny content, like a news piece... so it gets dugg.
When you enter Yahoo or MSN to check your e-mails, first read the news on their site.. find something funny, add to a news site of your own, which in turn links to 2 or 3 other sites you own.. ;)

Best Tip: A good place to post your miscelaneous news piece is a free Blogster blog.. it may even get Google's front page..ha!

Edit: Just make sure you also link to the news source.. right? Also, if you can, add some funny/controversial/interesting images related to the news topic, be sure to name their files after the news keyword, etc. it's good SEO and it adds up to the news.. add our personal touch, write some opinion on the news.

PS: don't kill me for sharing this....

Digg is only the start. you should use all of the web 2.0 sites you can. Ignore any evaluation by nofollow tags, just get links. There are dozens of sites to put submit to.

If your story is promoted to the front page, then it will benefit you and you will also get a dofollow back link. But if the story fails to make the front page of digg, then you will have to get satisfied with a few traffic + a nofollow backlink... But your Digg link would be still visible in the search engine for your particular keywords..

Digg is one of the few essential platform in the internet marketing filed which really give benefit to the websites. It is like long run medium which is very helpful for the seo point of view so you doing very good thing and your handwork really paid off.

I try Digg every once and a while when releasing hot & new content, but wouldn't consider it my go-to source for SEO.

i always use digg for fast crawling and indexing of my webpage but it will not going to count as a back link so it's worthless to get ranking..

No not at all. Your time and hard work will not going to be waste. Digg is a very great social networking site. It will give you traffic and back links and will help to boost your rank in Search Engine.

No digg will bring you some very good quality traffic, but won't help in the search engines.

I guess Digg contributes traffic by the users viewing your site that you submit to Digg, but i think these users don't stay too long, this will lead you into a bounce rate.

As long as you are posting some good, tips, news, and informative content on Digg, you are not really wasting your time.

Digg is one the best source to acquire some classified visitors for your website. However digging all the pages of your website would really solve your purpose, rather try to provide the users with some good content.
