I have created a new website of mine and has submitted a xml sitemap in google. But it is not indexed yet. Does sitemap submitting really helps to be indexed?
If you have used a google webmasters tools then you can easily track your websites url that have been indexed by Google. Yes submitting sitemap will let Google know the pages that can be reached by search engine like Google. It shows an error for the pages that cannot be indexed by Google or for pages that that broken links.
I also recommend submitting a sitemap. I've heard it helps to get your site indexed more quickly in the search engines.
It does help. In some cases it's redundant, and in some cases it's the only thing which can guarantee proper indexing. In any case, it's good to have a Sitemap.
I do have have same problem with my site, daily i am submitting sitemap to google , even though i didn't found any change.
When I created my website, it took about six months for my site to really appear in Google. I would submit my XML sitemap to Google like every once a week. Takes time but it pays of in the end.
Adding sitemap to your site is very important task for your website to make it easy to crawl by google. the sitemap contains the whole site url or page list with a title and description that guide google to which page you want to crawl for your website.
Yes afcourse, submitting a xml sitemap in google webmaster tool helps a lot for indexing your pages in google.
It can help speed up indexing more pages faster in Goolge (As well as letting Google know the URLs you would prefer to have their crawlers spend time on first - this assumes your XML sitemaps don't contain duplicate URLs etc.)
Helps, but one needs backlinks too... I tried the sitemap with a site that doesn't have backlinks at all, but "nofollow" backlinks... and Google couldn't notice it in 6 months. So: "nofollow" + XML sitemap = no indexation! You still need backlinks...
Yes, of course sitemap helps web crawlers to identify which page is linked to which page and also its helpful for getting indexed.
sitemap is very useful. as sailo said it's better use google webmaster tools .it's improve your site for index pages.
If your navigation is good and all your pages are linked, then the crawlers will discover your website and pages automatcally!
Sitemap is very important for many purposes. And one of them is to tell Google whcih directories it need ignore. For example, in our server at http://dysyst.com/ we have not only our corporate site of Dynamic Systems, but also our old and new running projects and auxilary files. We don't want Google to index them to display as parts of our site, of course. So we uase robots.txt and sitemap.xml to forward Google to right pages and directories.
