Sorry, but like posting on message boards and blogs, it is overrated. On top of that, most are just looking for free stuff, like pictures, and whatnot. They look around for about a minute ortwo, and they are off to the next site. In most cases, not ALL, it's a REAL time waster. You have to do it time after time after time after time...to bring in the kind of visitors you want. But try it for a test period of a couple of months. Don't keep doing it if it isn't working! It boggles the mind how some STILL do it. Dishwashers on minimum wage make more $.
it can enerate a fair ammount of hits yes, some of my sites get around 60-100k uniques weekly from stumbleupon, these are mainly for the video and humour content
Stumbling definately bring more traffic to your blog/site. But this traffic seldom converts into sales or clicks! These people stay at your site for less than 5 seconds. But if you're article is really good you can expect some conversion!
Yes. It'll bring lots of traffic..but it's useless traffic..if your site is new and you want to spread the word about your site, then use stumbleupon...(or) if you site is decently popular and making some $$, then it will decrease your CTR very much.
Stumbling works really well for Squidoo lenses... Even if the Stumble traffic doesn't convert it will bring up your rank on Squidoo... Then you'll get more Squidoo traffic and you'll see more conversions from that. Get enough Squidoo traffic and you'll start to get google traffic...
People stumble because there bored. So, creating a landing page just for them is really good. (i.e. "Hello There Stumbler!") it gets them reading! once you got them reading, your pretty much got them. Just note, the second you become boring, you've lost them T_T
I got around 2500 unique views to my contest on http://BlackhatWay.com thanks to someone submitting it to Stumble Upon. Received a lot of comments and a few subscribers.
You have to work stumbleupon and the rewards aren't usually that great. You can look for people who have an interest in your websites topic and PM them. Some will bookmark your pages which will get you a few extra back-links. You also get a back-link for adding your site to your own favorites. You might get 1000 visitors but most are simply stumbling because they are bored as mentioned previously. It's hardly targeted traffic that you get from stumblers and most just aren't interested in your topic.
It is hit and miss. It depends on how interesting the post is. I have had 200+ in one day, and nothing at all, but never have any continuity.
