Does stumble really generate traffic.

A couple of my sites have been highly stumbled and I have yet to see any residual stumble traffic? How long does it take, or does it really work to have others stumble your site?

I was wondering the same thing. I "stumbled" a new game on my arcade site the other night. I was promptly slammed by stumblers, but it's completely died out now. So, at least for me, I've received no residual traffic. But it would be hard to say no based on my one experience.

In my experienced it gave my site a 300-400 traffic a day, But its not stable, you can have that huge traffic today but there is no guarantee of having it again tomorrow.

Does it have to do with the tags, my tags on one site are family, safety, parenting. Getting no stumble traffic per say, well I got like 2 hits a couple days ago. I started stumbling last week, does it take more time for it to start?

I receive around 1,000 views from stumbleUpon per month and it is a pretty good source of traffic to have but not very good for conversion thou..

I have stumbled into well over a thousand sites and of those sites I have bookmarked 3, blogged about one, and have posted in a humor thread on a forum about 5.

Of the rest, I'd say that 98% of them were not worth the time it took to read the first few lines before I clicked the stumble button again.

Alternatively, I have one page that has been stumbled over 5000 times, got 31 thumbs up, and 4 reviews, and of those times I have verified that it was blogged about once, and another time bookmarked (I know this, because the person contacted me, otherwise, I do not think there is a way to tell).

Not much for residual traffic if ya ask me ...

Humor pages, interactive sites, and other things that catch the eye strong enough to make the person actually WANT to stay, rather then clicking the stumble button again. That is the only real way to get any traffic at all, let alone anything outside of SU itself.

One of the best methods is to actually NOT stumble your own pages overly much. Pick one or two maybe, and see how it goes, but have others stumble for you, that are not related to your site in the eyes of SU itself. They devalue the worth of your 'liked it' if it is your page, or if you have too many. Alternatively, they will give the power of your 'liked it' a boost if you are an active community member with lots of friends, and lots of 'found' pages.

Friend people like that, like what they like, they may return the favor and give you some gold traffic ;) But then, remember, it's not the highest quality of traffic if you are looking for conversions or sales.

I had a lot of traffic from stumbles but it is not quality traffic for conversion.

The problem now is that Stumble Upon is cracking down on Stumble exchanging and trying to promote your own site. I do not even use it because they threaten to ban me if I do any stumble exchanges, so I just quit using them because the traffic is not very useful for either Adsense or to build a good loyal base for your blog or site.

I receive lots of traffic at stumbled but its not that quality. I think creating a great design at your landing and content is a help for quality traffic.

StumbleUpon traffic relies on consistency of continually getting new thumbs-up and reviews. Just like Digg, something which gets a lot of votes very quickly and then gets none will quickly fall off the radar because the algorithm will deem it not relevant anymore.

Stumbling and digging will only generate temporary traffic surge and that may raise eyebrows with google if you are using adsense, be careful

although, stumbleupon can give you a traffic boost in the short-term, i have to agree with most everyone else. the quality of traffic isn't that great. your main objective, and what i think social media is best at, is obtaining references (i.e. inbound links) from those that decide to cite your content after they visit it. which will in turn increase your authority, increase your ranking, and increase your overall traffic...long term.

it's good for raw traffic, however it'd be rare to get a user who sticks unless your content is genuinely interesting.

It's good for a quick burst of traffic and getting new pages noticed by search engines but if the page lacks genuine interest it won't last long. You can give your profile more weight with things like friends and a good selection of stumbles which will give better results.

Yup Stumble generates traffic but they are just surfing. If you are looking for a good conversion rate, then Stumble is NOT the right choice.

For better exposure and traffic you can join few more similar sites rather than depending on one.
