Although no one can deny that social book marking sites do bring traffic to your site, but the depth (duration) of the visit will be very less unless and until you are the lucky person (?). Hence concentrate more on the organic traffic from major search engines whose visitors are more likely to click your ad thereby boosting your income apart from the social book marking. Do you agree with me?
I bocked some of my pages in the past with stumbleupon. This brought much traffic but only useless traffic. The problem with stumbleupon seems to bee that it's to global categoriezed.
Cool, thanks for the replies everyone, I really appreciate it. The next question.... does Digg/Stumbleupon traffic help with pagerank? I know Google can tell if your traffic is from a rotator (and so deemed from an autosurf) or not. From what I have seen, stumble looks like a rotator. Will Google be canceling Adsense accounts because you are advertising on a rotator?
No, SU isn't like an autosurf program, you'll be fine. And Digg/SU traffic doesn't help with PR, but the links you get on digg and su pages might help a bit.
I agree that they don't spend a lot of time or really click on much but I've been posting to Digg and Reddit and I find that both sites will spike my traffic a bit and it will fade away after a day or two but the average always stays higher after the spike. Also - since I've been submitting to the Social sites my hits from google have been going up every week.
I cannot say that we have seen traffic come from social bookmarking, but we have seen the social bookmark posts getting indexed at Google, especially from del.icio.us. If anything you have helped the link popularity process as well as generating cross channel linking. Hope this helps.
what is the difference between social networking and social news? and which sites would you recommend in each of the previously mention categories?
I get some traffic from Reddit and Propeller, BUT it really depends on the story. As said before in this thread, it is not returning users, and that is what we want, isn't it?! As for backlinks, it works great!
I outsource most of my social bookmarking, but it does bring in traffic and some of the traffic does convert to sales.
ok thanks guy. You have helped I know of SU, Digg, reddit, del.ici.ous... any more sites worth adding to the list?
