It's the old age saying "sex sells"
Do you think it is still as bigger market than it was (I am talking purely online), or is it an over saturated area?

No. The fad of enjoying sex and beautiful naked women is over...........of course sex still sells ;)

However, I bet regular porn sites are taking a huge hit these days due to the over saturated free and black market.

Sex has been always selling and will sell always. There will be new engines, new marketing solutions etc, but people will always need adult content. And some of them will always pay for it, no matter how many free sites there are and how good they are.

I'm just saying. It's a last resort. Also from a whole ethological point of view, that whole sex trafficking thing.
Is it really all you can think of doing?

Fair point. However, if you come across a niche that happens to be adult related, is legal and has the potential to make money - it has to be worth exploring. In this day and age I cannot afford to pass an opportunity to make some money.

I just stumpled upon this e-cigg shop, while browsing for new gear, and she caught my eyes :)
Though earlier today, I was watching fail compilations on youtube, and holy **** those thumbnails with girls with big attributes, that has nothing to do with the video, is annoying.
    So does sex still sell?
Yes it does, no it doesn't :)

I am kind of with @Mkcoy . Let's say you start something "more or less innocent" and it makes money for you, chances are you would want to explore the hard-core side of it. Not worth dragging your soul into that crap. And think of all the people you will be effecting in a very powerful, negative way (making their addictions bigger / stronger, ruining relationships / families, etc.).

I'd stay away from that crap if I were you.

To answer the question, yes. There will always be a market for it, online or off. Do I recommend you make money off of it? No. It is lucrative, but there are many others that are lucrative too. Consider selling something else.

It's exactly that kind of thinking that has resulted in the billion pron sites over the ages. Hard as hell to SEO and avoided by and large by most respectable God fearing businesses and people. And like Quikad says later on you will regret it. Even if it brings you wealth beyond your imagination you will still learn to regret it. If you have a heart that is lol

I think I saw recently 15 most expensive domains sex.com was on the most expensive domain name ever sold list at over $14 million US dollars. But that is obviously dirty money that it was bought with anyway!! Definitely! Probably mafia or some sheik in dubai.

And yes I hear what you're saying, you gotta put food on the table and pay the bills. I get that! But there is a much bigger hidden darker side to it that you cannot see right now! All you can see is what it wants you to see. Harmless fun and money earned from peddling or worse, creating it yourself. But after all its "adult" right so it means its okay to do as long as you are an adult. This is the thing with the world it likes to slap this "adult" name upon it as though it is alright. But virtually every girl lady or women that has got into porn in a big way lives to regret it. Some even go as far as committing suicide because of the guilt, shame, regret etc that they can't live with. Many "big" pronstars over the VHS to DVD boom have gone on to commit suicide. And some aren't that lucky. Some are literally kidnapped and forced into a life of sex such as innocent refugees by drug lords and pimps that get them hooked on herion or something and force them into selling sex for money trap that destroys them and their very soul. Tell me if I'm being over dramatic. Even many of the directors and creators live to regret doing such stuff and some go on to become real weirdos creeps and perverts later on in life. Pron imho is too closely connected to all of this. I'm just saying, are you prepared to put yourself and those involved through that and risk possibly this happening to you?

Sex sells yeah, but I ain't buying.

Beside, I get that for free. :D

Sex will ALWAYS sell. You could argue that it's the only reason we have money at all, or the only reason civilization exists in any form.

The adult industry is still gigantic and people are still making money on it despite the fact that there's more free content than you can... than you can...

Well... more than you can shake a stick at.

so long as you don't use your real name online, you can live your life just like the rest of the people who advices you not to go into adult. so long as you don't do illegal things, you can quit anytime you like, sell your $100M adult site for a dollar and retire to live to a tropical island after 20 years. no problem.

see...Businesses that aren't even into adult are trying to get into it like the e-cigg shop. if you wanted to join, register to gfy.com.

I know a number of people who are making money in the industry, who are putting money in, building traffic and getting money back.

How they are doing that I have no damn idea. I've known other people who were in the business for years whose businesses totally collapsed.

You raise some interesting points, but there is a lot more to the "sex industry" than porn or prostitution!
I also do think you are being a little over dramatic, the porn industry has created wealth for both men and women who go on the lead strong and successful lives.

My question was "does sex still sell" The term covers a very broad area. Looking at some of the adverts on this very site, some feature a picture of a woman in a bikini top < that is an example of using sex to sell.

Regardless of any moral views, there will always be people looking to make money out of sex. This ranges from the extreme side of the industry to the stay at home mum who sells her used underwear to dirty old men.

Brian, to answer your initial question - sexual content can bolster your sales if it is used right. The example with nude babes on pages of e-cigg shop should show how it can be used wrong.

Yet using it right is a very complicated idea. If you try to sell something like lingerie, swimsuits, shoes or accessories - you should definitely use pictures with beautiful women. However, when a woman sees the commodities she likes, worn by another woman - and that other woman, model, is prettier than the potential customer - she may be irritated and quit your website forever. If a man searches online for a gift to his spouse - using pics of hot babes wearing the stockings he would like to give to his wifey may cause him to buy or to quit, depending on his mood.

To say it short, if you are able to find a thin line between beautiful sexy and vulgar slutty - you will be doing well.

I just seen a on twitter; a horse, a women.
it implied that the women had sex with the horse.
maybe that turns someone on, but major fail!

sex will sell until the end of time; however
no matter how you market, sex is probably has
the big competition out there that any market
can have, because everyone is trying to sell it.
