I know that Google counts only dofollow comments as backlinks. But why bloggers want to set comment to nofollow if it won't motivate visitors to leave comments. Or does setting comment to dofollow brings SEO disadvantage to the website. Thank you.
I know comment is not a must in a blog. But I think comments do make a post more "alive" because there are interactions between visitors and publisher.
If really someone wants to comment in a blog then they don't care if link is no follow or do follow People started misusing the do follow option. So there is no option One of my blog is do follow and now i convert that to no follow because at that time my blog revived many unrelated marketing spam links and after i convert to no follow they stopped spamming
don't use dofollow unless you want to get spammed. As said before, if people want to comment they will comment regardless of dofollow/nofollow.
They dont want spams. Both my dofollow blogs are not that popular, yet I receive more spams than sincere comments. From those stupid comments, I can see that they dont even bother to read the title, much less the blog posts.
‘Nofollow’ is a HTML attribute, this was first created by Google in 2005 as fight against keyword spam, particularly on web pages where users can add links by themselves.Link to Google official blog. If you want to get plenty of spams on your site then go for it. No,i never heard about any issue regarding this.
Spammers are those who would like to know whether your link follows or not. These links might offer some SERP hike for those who comment on the dofollow blogs. In one way it is credit for those who spare their time to comment. But you may risk losing some value if you keep allowing those unrelated comments on your site.
I agree that if someone wants to post he/she will do it regardless of do or no follow. There is an additional bonus for a site owner if he/she is to gain a backlink from a dofollow blog that perhaps will make him comment again. On the other hand there is the risk of spam. In my opinion the best way to go is: Dofollow with moderating of the posts. If the comment with the anchor text (html or bbcode) is plain spam delete it if it's a valid comment but happens to have anchor text that will advertise someone's site and give him a backlink then why not. Both parties gain. The blogger in comments and the poster in backlinks.
You cannot set your comments to dofollow. There is no such thing. What you do, is omit the "nofollow" from them. But even without the "nofollow," google still may not "follow." Blog comments are becoming useless as far as google is concerned because of the abuse of commenting. Google tried to eliminate the nonsense by conjuring up the "nofollow." In fact, that's the only thing it was for. Eliminating PR from passing to unedited and immediate link posts. But, people still, including a ton in other forums, keep railing about the great blog commenting process. Because the nofollow proved to be a bust with google and used for unintended things, google is now just going to eventually eliminate blog comments from any PR. At least the writing is on the wall. I have all my blogs with the comments turned off. The only posts you get are spammed posts, nofollow or not. Or at least 99% of them. Most big blogs are going to comment-approved, no url, type of comments. I wish people would stop posting lists of tons of blogs to post to. Think about it. Why should you or I lose out to some fool who can make useless blog posts all day long? Does not mean the site is better than mine or yours, does it? Google feels the same way. Stephen C
Bloggers do not set their blog to dofollow or to nofollow. Wordpress made that decision for the blogger, cuz they think they are smarter than the bloggers. Wordpress comments are nofollow and there is NO setting to change that. The only way to change it is with a dofollow plugin. Bio
If you are really interested in the blog, you would not mind if it's do follow or no follow. And suggest you set your blog to no follow if you don't want to get spams
Unless you are targeting webmasters, I don't think the average person commenting on a blog will care if it is nofollow
