I am starting a few more sites and they will be sharing the same IP. Will having the same IP for multiple domains affect the SEO of sites. Also, is it ok if I have backlink to the sites from each other within the same IP?
yes, there is a slight penalty for having sites on the same ip address block link to one another. google will give preference to links from outside domains.
Yes... It also won't hurt you bad if you interlink sites w/ similar content... But an acne site linked to a games site would have the link devalued some.
It does effect SEO. I'm sure there is no penalty from linking form different domain/same IP however such links will be simply given less credit.
I think Mobilefrenzy is not asking about links from other sites his query is about his sites which are located in same IP's . Overall there is no such bad effects for seo of your sites located in same IP . Sites with same ip, same niche and exchange link with each other means you effort on all sites will equal to signle site. Google consider all sites are same.
