Does Ron Paul need a top finish in New Hampshire?

After the Iowa results, does Ron Paul need a good showing in New Hampshire to have a chance? CNN/MSNBC/ABC/FOX just keep talking about obama/hillary/guiliani/huckabee (and sometimes edwards/mccain) ...

Haven't heard how RP is doing after the first caucus...

4th or better sure would help him I would imagine, anything to show him picking up steam. 3rd or better would IMO show more the fact that alot of his support is not included in the polls.

Showing he has enough support would also bring some people over who like him, but do not currently support him as they think it's throwing their vote away. There are MANY who fit that bill.

I would think that RP needs a top two finish to be considered a viable candidate in SC...right now, Fred is really hitting the airways hard down here, as is RP, but there is no excitement about RP except for the hippies driving around with their vans having handpainted RP signs on them (If I see that van again, I will get a pic for sure!)...Fred is really drumming up some excitement, as is Huck. Of course, SC is a very conservative christian state, so that does explain some of the excitement. Not sure how Mitt is doing, his campaign has been pretty much the same here since his candidacy, we see ads, posters, etc, but nothing new to catch peoples attention and get them talking or excited. JM thoughts.

4th would be good, beating 2 of Huckabee, Giuliani or Thompson.

3rd would be really good, beating all 3 of them. I think it would hurt Thompson and Huck in SC, and pretty much bury Giuliani.

2nd would be amazing and a big catapult the rest of the way.

I don't like playing the prediction game. Anxious for tomorrow to arrive.

I have a hard time imagining Fred Thompson drumming up excitement among anyone but the league of zombies.

As to the topic, A 3rd place finish would be huge as far as gaining more media exposure. 4th would at least be something. I would be disappointed with a 5th place finish as I think NH is one of the best states for him to do well in and ... well yes that would be disappointing. If you've seen the polls you'll know that Thompson is barely registering, so he should at least beat Thompson!

Certainly I am still keeping out a sliver of hope that Paul will much exceed expectations but considering how well Zogby did in Iowa and that Paul is only registering 6% on the latest Zogby poll... Well I'm not holding my breath.

    LMAO that's a good one. :D

Our bookmakers here in the UK are very rarely wrong and if you look at the odds I posted in my other thread Paul is looking realistically at 3rd or 4th.

But you never know what will happen on the night.

Ron Paul won't fare better than fifth place, again. Despite massive efforts there, polls just don't show it. The polls were correct in Iowa, I tend to believe they will be fairly correct in NH. That also means I don't believe my candidate will do better than third there. In fact, he will take third, but we've known that for a long time. South Carolina, that's a different story :)

Yep, Huck is campaigning hard down here...and with the way SC is, I give it to either him or Fred, depending on how Fred fairs tomorrow.

Who knows... Just for fun, my prediction: McCain, Romney, Huckabee, Giuliani, followed closely by Paul. I live in NH and there is a lot of support for Ron Paul in my county.
