When writing articles I sometimes find myself in a situation when two words rhyme. Is it OK or does it leave an unprofessional impression and should be rephrased? Something like this: The common mistakes parents make .... etc Btw is there any good service out there to offers checking the grammar and quality of your articles? (I don't want my articles to be written by someone else, I just want them to be checked for fluency as English is not my first language). Thanks!
There's nothing wrong with that. If you were rhyming lines intentionally, it might sound a bit ridiculous though.
If you read your articles out loud after writing them and they don't sound singsong-y or like a Dr. Seuss book, you should be okay. I don't know of any grammar or quality checking service. If you are writing content for your own site, you might just want to hire a proofreader.
I rather need a service similar to copy editing. As far as I understand proofreader mostly deals with spelling errors, which can be detected by computer software.
You'd be surprised the mistakes that your computer software doesn't catch. If you use the word "an" instead of "and" you're not going to be told that is wrong. Also, grammar and punctuation issues and minor issues of voice can all be corrected by a proofreader. I would start with a proofreader simply from a cost/need basis. If you already know that your writing requires the heavier hand of an editor, a google search turns up hundreds. Just don't hire any with spelling or grammatical errors on their page
You need to read the content in the end to decide if you are on the right side. You might also want to be tight on having a word repeated too may times. Repetition can cause a similar problem, specially if you deliberately repeat a word too often in the same paragraph. I cannot repeat this more. For more, please PM me.

If you check your content line by line The occasional rhyme is just fine But your client's minds might express some doubt If your text is rhyming all throughout There are serious topics like finance and cancer Where rhyming content is not the answer To the problems and tasks your clients desired And as a result you may not get hired Since your future income needs protecting Proofread your text and start correcting And to separate yourself from the poetry herd Get a thesaurus - use a different word
And suddenly, during a seemingly harmless discussion about copywriting, the entire forum broke out into song and dance.
In all seriousness, it's okay if you have a rhyme here and there because it can be pleasing to your readers' ears. Just don't overdo it. If you rhyme the title, make it done with words that seem like they should naturally be there. You're writing an article, not a song.
And keep in mind that your actual example isn't a complete sentence, meaning you wouldn't be ending on a rhyme anyway. The only way you can determine if the rhyme is okay or not is to read the completed work (preferably aloud).
id avoid rhymes, sometimes it will change the readers concentration and they will concentrate at enjoying the rhymes
If it's basically a rhyming poem, then yes. Otherwise I don't think that's the case. In fact a subtle ryhme could even direct the attention towards the subject at hand. In the original example I think that the rhyme flows fine and reads very well, but as jhmattern said it would depend on what comes after. Reading aloud really is the best way to know if it's too much.
Hi go85, such a brilliant advice that too such a brilliant way. Moderator, please excuse me for bumping this time as I had no better choice to thank this user. Sigh..... I am not a webmaster by profession. Then I could have hired your service forever. Coming to the point of rhyming, ummm... I think it is better to avoid when you are writing about some serious matters. But when you are hired to write some articles about Valentine's Day or about 'How to get your ex back' occasional rhyming is just fine. That's my opinion.
I think you reader will look more "sincere post over rhyming content"and if that writing is already your style ,keep that way and about grammar checker ,find out easy at Google search,I already do it and the list is LONG
