I would say it depends on the cult/religion you are dealing with. I am pretty sure the vatican gives the ok on astrology.

Yea, no coincidence. All the western religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) are based on ancient astrology: sun & moon worship to be specific.

There's heavy astrological symbolism throughout all of the holy books, the holy days are on important astronomical events, and they're both obsessed with the "beings" who dwell in "heaven" (a word that also means sky)

It's all tied in with the philosophy of a microcosm and macrocosm being mirrors of each other. As it is in heaven, so shall it be on the earth... or something like that.

If you mean by astrology that kind of lies and imaginary things which is based on nothing but claims, then it is forbidden.

Religions forbids Astronomy because it is based on non-factual and fortune telling. In Religions things must make sense, not random and valid.

Astronomy on the other hand is OK.

first you say that Astronomy is banned, then astronomy is ok. This is a contradiction.

I know you meant astrology is banned. And isnt this hypocritical- Astrology has as much evidence as christianity, its solely based on faith.

My mistake, I meant Astrology for the first one.

Not exactly. Christianity is based on Faith, true when it comes to believing in that the higher existing which is proven by science is God (everything must have a start).

There are many situations that have factual evidence, like Moses spreading the sea or Noah's Arc or Pharaohs tomb.

The only similarity I see between religion and Astrology is that religion sometimes have un-explained phenomenons, usually occurring based on the order of God, everything else can be scientifically explained.

    Peace,

this is plainly false. just repeating silly arguments enunciated by early theologians from the dark ages hat do not stand the weakest rational analysis.
factual evidence for the sea splitting and the arc? more false stuff repeated ad nauseam just in case somebody believes it. Pharaohs tombs? of course, they are evidence that there were pharaohs who died and were buried in tombs. doesn't say anything about a god/s

actually, there was a time when astrology had more merit than religion. it was based on the real science of the moment which now is known to be baseless. all of religion is based on a purely speculative claim (god exists) and that's it.

Believe in yourself than astrology. Believe in humanity than religion and you'll be happier than ever.

Pharaoh's considered themselves gods. So there is evidence for existence of god. ;)

Sadly not the kind of god religious people are looking for.

Many religions support astrology and it's understandable because they serve the same purpose. Controlling people and giving them a sense of special power or insight or connection or whatever.

"You are weak and pathetic but I can show you the way" stuff.
