It depends why you're on it.
    • fun
    • politics
    • keep up with friends and family
Quitting may make you lose your connection with family and that would be bad
but it may also stop you encountering opinions that differ from your own and that might feel good but would be bad
but if you're losing sleep, failing exams or getting into trouble at work because of social media then it would be good
the list goes on but I'm sure you get it.

Does it make you happier if you stop watching TV? Does it make you happier if you believe in God? Does it make you happier if you are married?

All these questions, like the one you posted depend on so many variables that it would be very hard to answer.

Additionally, the question in itself is impossible to answer since those who quit social media won't be on these forums (which are part of social media) to answer your question.

Prior to the Internet, the question might be: Should I stop going out, meeting people, socializing, staying in touch with family/friends, etc.? Over the centuries, there always have been anti-social hermits who try to stop engaging with anyone else by retreating to complete isolation. Are they happy? Possibly. But, for most people, some level of socialization is preferable to complete isolation. Perhaps, a better question is whether moderating social participation (whether online or offline) to make it more worthwhile and enjoyable is the way to go?

    Happiness comes from inside..
mostly from our hormones..if you get to the depth of our biology.
social media isn't bad...what you extract from it could be useful or harmful.
like if you use it to stalk on ur ex, its poison
but if you use it to learn, share, create some moments ..its great...
for me, it helped me with my depression... so i like it..

if you are looking for happiness, find out the reason why you are not happy...instead of looking at social media, tv, films or your neigbhourhood...answer is inside yourself..
like ...why i wasn't happy? because i was left to die from ppl i trust most...and why they left me? because i had not enough money? why i had not enough money? because i put them in center of my life and didn't focus on my career...
so .. dear... find the root cause of you being not so happy as u deserve...
    and than solve it...
solving your problems would make you happy...not shutting down a laptop, or tv or mobile phone or oven..these are external devices..nothing else.
