Does quality free directories exist in USA? (and without reciprocal backlink)

Hello,

I am new to this forum, I discovered little by little what is the other side of the Atlantic.

As you can see in my signature, i am the webmaster of a free directory (PR 4), without reciprocal link.

I covered many subjects and found a lot directory but all the directories that I found are either paid or with a reciprocal link and often without any traffic or PR.

In France, I believe there is no paid directory (except yahoo or yellow pages)

My question: Is there any free directory of quality ?

 

It is interesting to hear that there is a differences in the running of directories in Europe. Yes, there are free directories in the United States. I have not studied them long enough to comment on quality.

I just spent the last couple of weeks adding to our list of United States directories. There are now 2100 listings, many of which are at the State and local level.

Here's another list of free web directories. You can use the search to narrow the list to just US directories. However, many US directories consider themselves "worldwide".

I started a brand new directory for webmasters (in my sig). Very few top level cats for now but it will grow as the directory grows. Requires no payments or recips, just QUALITY content or services on the websites.

What difference does it make where you submit your site as long you're submitting to "quality" (whatever that means) directories?
