Does promoting a site through social networking pay?

It definitely can work, but like I said before, you have to know how to make it work. Some people think they can just go onto Twitter or Facebook and start spamming their links to death and think they'll get sales that way. That is absolutely the wrong way to do it and you will only hurt yourself in the long run if that's the way you go about it.
