Does promoting a site through social networking pay?

Does promoting a site and getting exposure on social networking sites pay? What I mean is whether it is possible to monetize such traffic and exposure. From my own experience the best way to monetize is search traffic both for ad revenue and also selling products because the traffic is often relevant traffic, but what are your experiences from getting a strong following on things like Facebook?

I don't have any experience with social networking and was wondering if it is worth marketing my sites on on Facebook and other social sites?

I can say that using social media is one of the effective ways monetizing your products, for the reason that you can easily interact with your target market and plus you can choose the the target that are really interested with your product and services.

Yes, it does. But it also depends on the kind of product you sell. If it's just a blog and if you have great content, you can easily promote your blog through social network. You'll get more traffic by doing that and your followers could grow fast because of interaction.

Dude you don't know that the traffic from the social media sites are really targeted. and you can have a good conversion rate too. So i think the best is to monetize these traffics.

Social traffic converts better than search engine traffic if you have right offer to promote. People don't visit social sites to spend money, but if they find anything to help them they never worry to spend. So monetize social traffic to go your conversion viral.

    Hi,

I have to say that my FB pages are a great success especially at getting exposure to people i would probably never have came across and if you use something like App Rocket then the sky is the limit.

The best way to promote a social networking site is other social networks. Try to find ones with good page rank.

Luckily you have a niche site. That should help a lot

tottenham> Create a social presence by getting a product named presence on all the social media sites.

Link them all together, find like minded business and people.

Post often and use great content.

Do this and they will come :)

If your product related to those entertainment , foods & travel then it would be easy to convert by using social media . If your product or services is toward more technical then might be need sometime to convert and not that high compare to those entertainment line .
But ofcourse it still useful which you might not convert your fans to buy immediately but allow you bring those traffic to your site only convert . Or keep more in touch with them with your good service and promo might convert them in one day.
Facebook is still a best channel for business to build brand name.

That depends on the niche that you are in right now. Some niches just do not work with traffic from social networks because most of the people come here to play and interact. I used to advertise in the HR field using FB and Twitter but looks like things did not going well for me and i choose to stick with Adwords instead.

Assuming that you are actually receiving traffic on your website via social networking websites (where you've advertised about your websites), yes, you'd make money from advertising like Google Adsense, PPC etc.

Forgive my ignorance, but do FB visitors go to your site or do they visit the site within FB. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could explain in simple steps how FB promotion works.

It only pays off if you are targeting the people that would desire the products/services you have to offer on those said social networking websites. There are tools that aid users in searching for people to talk about particular services needed, or products they're interested in. You want to be in front of those people and communicating with the right crowd. A lot of social networking services offer large following promises but they're usually random hit and runs. The only way to be successful with social networks is to focus on the people that count. Large followings aren't the key. Quality targeted followers that are interactive and want to hear what you have to say is the key. It's your job to go find those people and make the sale. What's great is social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook are making it easier and easier to accomplish this. Not taking advantage of it is a loss.

Social networking can be a very useful and successful marketing tool, if you know how to use it right. As long as the people you are networking with are interested in the product that you're selling and it will benefit them in some way, then it can work. Don't go overboard though and be annoying about trying to sell your product. Give useful information, interact with others, and only promote your product occasionally.

Depends entirely on your niche as to whether the traffic from social sources will covert. All exposure is good exposure to a certain extent, though.
