Does it need to be a high PR traffic? Do link spammers really care? That's what we're discussing, pre-meditated link drops for the expressed purpose of link scheming

Link Spam no matter how U flower it up ..no?

Yeah. My blogs don't use it. However, there is moderation involved. I too would like to know what blogs don't use it. Got a list?

This was going to be my exact comment.

If you have something meaningful to say, and you say it well, it's only natural that traffic will follow. I have never once been concerned with a "nofollow" tag in a blog, because anytime that I have bothered to leave a comment, I have already identified with my audience.

That being said, I've only ever commented in 2 blog posts. :)

However, this is by design, not for lack of wanting to say something....

Find a high PR blog page with comments on that page with little links on it. THAT is a rare gem. I've found very few pages like that. BUT what I have found is that some bloggers are very good at replying to your comments so that you can have a discussion in comments. You get a link to your site every time you make another comment!

Your name will be linked to your website in most cases, so make sure that your name is on your web page somewhere to ensure the strength of a content-related link.

It's not blog spam if it is a related comment. If you place a backlink with anchor text in the body of your comment...that is border line spamming. If it is just a regular old comment asking for your homepage and email...then your name would be the linked item...but it would not be spamming at all.

As far I know leaving a comment with a link is very good technique of backlink building. It has no negative effect.

Kinda like wikipedia, Google states that because of nofollow, links from wikipedia have no effect on SERPS. They definitely do, indirectly and it is rumored that Google does give special weight to links from wikipedia.

Also, the sheer volume of keyword searches that wikipedia dominates is astounding... There was a blog post I read somewhere that said upwards of 98% of wikipedia section titles, in a sample of random selections, showed up within the first 3 results of searches.
