Does Pining Works ?

I have added a few backlinks for my new website on some high PR sites. I have pinged all of them thrice in last seven days but am yet to see their backlinks. I am not sure what else I can do to let google spiders index those pages so that my website gets backlinks from them.

    Pls advice.

    Thanks,
    SF

I am not a fan of pinging links. For my backlinks, I bookmark them or throw some high PR comments and other stuffs. I found twitter to be effective in indexing a webpage.

I use SEO spyglass to check backlinks, since its free to download. What are you using to check your site's backlinks? Have you tried to copy some phrase on the article where your backlink is and search it through google to see if it returns results? this could quickly tell if its index, if it shows up on search results

Pinging the same URL again & again may impact negatively. The main work of pinging is to let know the search engine that you have posted something new and they can get some fresh content here but if this process is happening again and again for the same URL as they are not getting next time their, search engine will consider it as spamming and may remove it from their database.

I'd suggest to generate some social signals and bookmark on some high authority sites.
