Does pinging have any effect at google

    It can help certain pages get recognised but you need to do more than SEO, what are you trying to rank?

    I don't think pinging has any impact on Google. If you have a properly structured site that is linked to from sites in the index, your site will get indexed. I don't think pinging will speed that up.
