Does PID (Publishers Website ID) have to be used for that website only?

    Hi,
I am quite new to CJ so forgive me for asking what may be an obvious question.
A new PID is created each time you add a new website to your account.
Is it OK to use that PID for that website for other websites?
    Thanks :)

No, it will be invalid clicks and you will be violating CJ TOS :

don't do it or CJ will need to contact you.

I have never, ever had CJ contact me for using one PID across multiple sites. and I've done it quite a bit-- usually out of laziness, sometimes because I want the statistics to be combined, etc.

not suggesting you should violate their ToS, but some things in any long ToS are going to be pretty minor, and things they don't care too much about...

worst thing I could possibly imagine them doing is contacting you and asking you to change it.

I agree that they wouldn't kick you out about this.

But I wouldn't violate TOS for something so stupid - if you know CJ you know that is not a good idea to play with them when talking about their TOS.

If you're promoting multiple sites, and don't want to create multiple PIDs, just list each of these sites on a single PID site detail.

No one can tell you that you'll be violating 2.a term as you are providing accurate information of your promotion methods and you will not taking risks of getting your account get flagged by CJ Network Quality team.

CJ isn't like, say, adsense or something. being kicked out is very rare, and takes something rather extreme for them to even consider it.

still doesn't hurt to stay within the TOS, though.

    Thanks for your feedback.

Question: So what PID would you key in if you are using Adwords to promote CJ...the adwords url ?
    Thanks.

whatever one you want. you can use different pids for different campaigns, if you want.

you can also set up new websites on the same domain. ie site.com can have one pid and site.com/stuff/ can have another.

Adwords will probably ban your adverts if you point them straight at the merchant.

True. CJ rarely kick you out. But they can hold your payment if they have questions.

Why would they do that? It is quite common that Adwords is used to point to affiliate programs and even Adsense ads.

    Not a problem with that.
What I meant is using Adwords to point to CJ or Clickbank affiliate links directly and NOT to your own website. What PID would you use in that case?

    WFT???  ...

No, AdWords will not ban you for that. I'm an Qualified Adversing Professional and I tell you that you can send traffic traffic directly to merchants.

Welcome new competitors :D , I don't like to help a competitor - but this is the rule of the game.

I meant they will ban you if the display url doesn't match the url the searcher ends up at. Didn't quite explain it very well though.

CJ will never catch you if you do this, but if one of your advertisers notices that something fishy is going on they can report you with just a single click. If you get reported, you could have issues. If you're an established affiliate you really have nothing to worry about; the worst case would be that they'd contact you and ask you to update your info. But if you're new or don't have much of a track record, you could get zapped for sure.

Moral of the story: Don't do anything that your advertisers would find objectionable and you'll be fine.
