I have over 20 phpld paid licences till now and I fee I had enough. Does Phpld provide unlimited licence plan like esyndicat? I know if I pay $500 for esyndicat, I have unlimited domain licences. Thinking I have to pay more in the future for the renew of licences, I am struggling if it is a good idea to switch to esyndicat. What is your thoughts?
No, phpLD does not offer such a program as we feel there is not a business model that would support this. If you want an unlimited use license, there are many free scripts available, and Esyndicat does offer such a license. We've been asked many times about this, and we just don't see a model that would be feasible. However, we do offer discounts for bulk, including very deep discounts as you hit 100s of licenses (you'll need to inquire on our forums about that). In addition, when you can get a license for as low as $30 (and cheaper in bulk), if the plan for the directories doesn't account for this cost in the business, I would tend to question the validity of the plan. If you can't make $30 on the site in a year, why do you want to launch 50 sites with the same model? We have no plan to change the model, even if it means losing a few customers who want to go the cheaper route on a bulk solution. We already have a problem with ther being complaints about the directory industry being full of spammy directories. If there is a price to pay for each license, it means the person starting the directory will choose more carefully before they put up sites. There are a lot more quality, high customized phpLDs going online this year, and business is very good at phpLD.
Theres still the concern of people picking up the scripts on warez sites, often the types that want to start huge amounts of any type of site wont want to pay for it in the first place, whats to stop them starting a load of poor quality directories on a copy picked up somewhere?
DMCA notifications. We took down 28 sites this week alone. People end up losing their hosting account and sometimes even their domain name. They also lose the time they invested in the site, and credibility with their peers. They may get away with it for a while, but we find them and take them down every single time without failure as DMCAs are a powerful thing. It is not uncommon to have a host suspend an entire reseller account or VPS (that happened this week).
