Does pages in supplemental hurt SERPs sitewide?

Well i just found out i have pages in googles supplemental index, all these are separate pages where users can leave comments.
For that reason they are not important but im worried that by being in the index that it will hurt SERPs for my important pages. any info about this, is it a sitewide penalty?

I believe the reason they got in there was because i didnt have any descriptions tags so they looked all the same in the search results..what a bad mistake..

I have made changes now and also moved content first in the code instead of navigation. Dont know if this is enough to get out again.

Hope you understand and thanks in advance for any help!

I'm gathering from what Matt Cutts has said that it does not. It depends upon what type of search is done to get to those pages. Doing a search on Google for 'supplemental results' brings up a nice video with Matt explaining it.

You don't have anything to worry about. You will need to get links to these pages to get them out of supplemental
