You should start with finding free directories, then after you've done that go to link exchanges and then try out buying some text links.

 

So where can i get a list of free directories, if you don't mind?

 

You could you someones Directory Submission Service but I did find some free directories here: (This is someones website from the DP)

You want another tip for finding them?

If you know the software name, then search something like "Powered by a PHP Directory Script" in google

Other ways could just be directory +your keyword, Free directory etc.
