I have over 3,000 backlinks but i got deranked from PR4 to PR0 today. Not sure why, because I DO NOT pay for links.
Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on?

Probably the update is not over. Check again in 24-48 hours and you should be fine.

From What I have read and heard.

Backlinks are very important. But also the links that you send out from your site to other sites are just as important. If your content is relevant to incoming and outgoing links you should be fine.

But with that being said! I know some people that have 10K plus backlinks going to their sites and yet they did not move up in PR ranking. In fact some have actually gone down in PR like yourself. Personally I think PR is too fragile to depend on. I think that content is KEY.

How did you acquire your links ?
HOw do you check your PR status?

I also heard that it matters how fast do you acquire links. If links are added on regular basis at persistent and natural pace you're fine. However if there are thousands of links added on one day than G can consider it spam and penalize the site.

I think this is true, i have an experience myself. I paid for article posting on a blog network of 600 blogs and got 1800 backlink in a day. Now the domain does not show all those backlink and did not get any PR.

My PR went up, but my traffic has dropped to 1/4 of what it was last week and I dropped in SERPs, too. I have the same links (a few more) than I had a week ago, so what's the deal? I just don't get it.

This pr update is fishy. I have new non ranked sites that got inner pr and pr 0 for the homepage's. I think this update is not completed yet as other have noted.

Quality beats out quantity of links when it comes to pr. No joke, I have seen pr 5 sites with only one backling from a pr 6.
