OK - as noboy actually know exactly how google works this is just educated guess work the links will not be counted towards your page rank but even though it is called NOfollow I think bots do follow them to index your website so I can help but not as much as a follow link.
It is believed that only dofollow links help for PageRank optimization. So, if your goal is to improve your PR - nofollow links will be useless for this purpose. But IMHO they work just fine when they are with a proper anchor texts for improving your SERP positions and even your indexation. Generally, the more links, the better. Every link boosts your website more or less
