I recently changed my domain name from moreclicks.info to clickspidy.com Now the site is exactly the same the only thing I changed was the domain name. Since I changed the name I went from several sales a day to 0 in the past 3 days. I changed the name from .info to .com because I was spending allot of time doing SEO and from my experience .info names don't do as well. I know when I buy something online I don't care about the domain name I care about the product. I don't even have a logo so if you wanted to see the site name you would have to look in the address bar. I picked the name clickspidy.com because it was short and catchy had the name click and spidy short for spider in the name. Can anyone tell me if you think that made the difference in sales or is that normal to have slow days. I want to change it back but the .info name likely wont do as well as the .com name in SERP.
A lot of it might have to do with your advertising. A lot of people have heard of your previous site but not of your new one unless you redirect your old url to your new one. In time, with backlinks, your traffic (and sales) with go back up... and may be higher due to the dotcom (the .info domain is commonly associated with scam sites.) Just keep working on those backlinks and advertising and your stats should be back to normal. Also, don't forget to update your link on sites such as here on dp. I just noticed your old domain is still in your little "About" panel in your post: Join Date: May 2008 Location: www.moreclicks.info Posts: 289
Hello Guys It's better to use clickspidy.com for SEO purpose. Also, it might be because your customers might not be aware of this change. So, put a redirect from moreclicks.info to clickspidy.com. Also you may create one banner at Front page of your site and write the message "moreclicks.info is now clickspidy.com " so All visitors who come to your site are aware of this Thanks
I have to agree with a few of the statements above. All the SEO and advertising you did was for the .info url and now you changed it the .com name is new and all the old links, articles and what not are pointing to the .info not the .com I have no idea how much time you spent advertising your site however if you're willing to pay someone or DIY then I suggest making a heap of articles and submitting them with proper anchor links. If you are getting people coming back for second and third sales then you might need a datbase and a site makeover for the .com then send it out to your database saying something like: Check out this new and fully upgraded site. All the best mate and I hope you understand this a bit now.
The site is brand new. The .info name was registered a few days ago. So in total the site is less than a week old. My first sales started over the holiday weekend. After the holiday weekend the sales went to 0 my last sale was on the 5th. I think I changed the name on the 5th. I did almost no advertising. I just added a link in my sig and all the sales came from that. I changed the name and the sig link the same day. No other form of advertising was used.
Weekends produce more activity online then Weekdays.. or thats what I have noticed in regards to selling items but thats just me.. and im just one voice.
Yeah sorry Dave I skimmed over the other posts really quickly because I thought I had the answer for you. OK I take what we are looking at is the site from your signature? If so I have a few tips for you mate. Don't look at my low post count and think I know nothing. I've been around the block many times before! OK first off remember this is just my opinion and experience trying to help you. I suggest changing the left sided text to justified and then leave the bullet points on the left but make them bold and they really need to make the customer want to buy. Maybe add a video - every1 loves videos these days. It could be of you just syaing what you will learn and getting them to feel comfortable buying your product. Add a shade of light yellow or blue as the background (not what the text is written on - the backgroung that is currently grey~ish) These colours make people feel comfortable and stay longer, therefore getting you more sales. Don't be afraid to add colours, pictures and make sure the spelling mistakes are cleared up. If you have only been selling for round a week then you probably already have all the sales you will get from this one signature link for the time being or until you make more posts. I strongly suggest spending some money to get a decent Sales Page written up for you, unless you can write a better one than you currently have. Last off you need to remember that some days can be slow but if you spend a bit of time marketing it or posting in some other forums/niches sites or do some article marketing and submissipon to sites such as ezine articles then you willl see great results. I only briefly read your site and came up with these quick tips to try and help you mate! You're definatly in the right direction though. Keep up the good work!
I was thinking about raising my price maybe the low price is effecting sales. I know allot of time I wont buy something that's cheap because I think it might be junk.
Thank you for the tips I will give them a try. I'm going to have some nice ebook covers made to make it look enticing. I was wondering which words where misspelled? I would like to hire someone to rewrite the page.
"The regular price has not been set as yet but i am thinking $47 for this info as it is so valuable." I think I would change that line of text. That makes me not want to buy.
I disagree about adding video to the site. I'll leave a site right away if it's got a video because A: It may startle me because I might have my speakers up and not expect it. and B: It makes a site look scammy ---- You might want to add an image at the top. Also change the words "Learn online marketing secrets that will EXPLODE your web site traffic! " That's not proper English. I suggest changing it to: Learn online marketing secrets that will make your website's traffic explode! ---- Also, this may be valuable information, but I think $97 is too much for that. It may be valuable, but how are people going to know/believe that.
well man I just honestly skimmed it as quick as skimming through pages in a 700000000 page novel - lol I noticed somewhere " i am" depending on what approach you're trying try I'm or I am or I would suggest getting rid of that phrase, I think it was i am likely going to raise the price. Remember the people you get to the site are there to be told what the go is, when you have undecisive statements it makes customers/potential buyers feel like you don't know what you're doing and therefore they leave. If you get a better sales page written up I would suggest charging $20 down from $59 or $47 down from your $99. I can write sales pages but I charge big $$$$ and clients find they get massive turnarounds from them. You can get cheaper pages written in the services-> content creation section here on DP. Something else to consider is signing up with upsell.com or something like that, then you can get extra sales, a pop up if people were leaving your page, works 50/50 I find. Or if you don't have a data base then you need to sign up with aweber.com or someone similar and start collecting email addresses and doing marketting for a second site or product. I like your enthusiasm though man! Anything else or pointers I can help yu with just let me know!
I think its that you changed the domain name and noone knew, if you posted a website on the old domain redirecting it.
The site as a whole with the .info is brand new only 7 days old. I changed it to .com on Thur. From Saturday till today 0 sales. My first day when I bought the domain name .info I got 1 sale day 2 I got 2 sales day 3 I switched the site to .com day 3 till now I got 0 sales.
