Does My Site Look Like Crap On Your Computer?

Discussion in 'Websites' started by Stumpygrrl, Aug 20, 2005.

I was in a local computer store and I opened up my website on a brand new Sony Veio laptop with a small screen (using Internet Explorer) and my website looked like crap!

The fonts of the sale price items were huge and pushed down so far, they were sitting on top of the pictures underneath them. I looked at the category pages and the prices overlapped the shopping cart's checkout button!
    It was absolutely horrible.

    The website is http://www.theadulttoyshoppe.com

Please look at my website and let me know if you see this happening on your computer. Your input is greatly needed so I can fix this as soon as possible.

    Thank you

I'm using XP at 1024x768 IE6 and it looks fine... The fleshlight is scaring me a little... haha but other than that.. It looks good... Try chaning your screen resolution around and viewing it at 800x600. I would also try changing to 24 and 16 bit colour and making sure everything looks decent.

Some users will have used the view->text size option in IE to make fonts bigger. Also, there is an Advanced setting in XP Display properties which allows you to change the point size of all screenfonts (used when running very high resolution). Those can affect your view too.

But as for a plain jane XP system that is setup like 90% of the population, it looks just fine for me.

In Safari (1280x854) the content is aligned to the left, but otherwise it looks good.

Looks fine to me. And it looks fine to my husband who commandeered the screen for half an hour when he saw what I was looking at.

No it doesn't look like crap, you should be proud of your efforts. You may want to re-think the gloss used on the buttons.

It looks centered and okay on Firefox but, you know, design wise it's not very impressive. Kinda weird, actually. You got buttons laying about and open spaces. hmm...

    Looks good. XP 1280x1024 firefox

not exactly centered, but it doesn't matter. The 'safe and secure online ordering...' statement at the bottom goes outside of the established margins set by the columned content above it, but maybe I'm just being picky.

It would be great to have a user feedback area where your customers could post pics of them with your products, but maybe I'm just dreaming ;)
