Does (Most) Programs work with WINDOWS 7?

I'm about to install Windows 7 on my laptop, but I am a little hesitant considering I use a lot of programs and am worried that many won't work anymore.

Does most/all the applications that work with Vista work with Windows 7 as well?

    LMK... Thanks,
    JJ

Yes. Unless you're using something from the 16-bit era.

They have said windows 7 is actually what windows vista SHOULD have been. Its just a shame microsoft is so money hungry to charge for a whole new os instead of just upgrading vista.

I would expect that Windows 7 be able to run all programs tthat would run on traditional windows. If you want you can set up dual boot using some tool like bootkey (search for open source or freeware equivalent).

I hope Microsoft will not repeat the same mistake which they did in Vista. You can run almost all the programs in Windows 7. For XP compatible programs you can run it in 7 using XP mode. More details here

Yeah, most of the programs will work on windows 7, If you need to run programs like c,c++ then consider installing VirtualBox in windows7 and install xp as a guest OS.

    AllproJJ,

Most programs that are compatible with Windows Vista should indeed be compatible with Windows 7. If you find that you encounter issues with certain software after you have installed Win 7, Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams.

    i use windows 7... okay.. a correction here... i love windows 7 !
Windows 7 covers up all the mistakes microsoft made with vista, and it does so beautifully.

Go ahead and install in mate... and dont worry.. it has excellent backward compatibility :)
