No way, if it is so Adobe already taken out an injunction and proceed with suing, Silverlight is Microsoft technology that is suppose to be better than Adobe Flash and finally replace it.

yea i think so. Silverlight is not that different than flash. it just uses a bit less ram and is intended for hd quality though people are still going to use flash player because for example A hd tv show 24min is like 3gb so yea people are still going to stick to flash because no one is going to waste their life's to stream a movie at 100kb-1mb for days

I have noticed that Microsoft has created a beta version of download center using silverlight technology and I am really impressed, it may also surpass flash. time will decide who wins !

The problem is developers aren't interested unless more people use it. And then the question is, why should they use it when they have flash? MS may have a long road to travel.

Yeap, it can be the best product in the world but if no one uses it, it is still useless, Microsoft is trying to pull the carpet from under the feet of Adobe, not going to be that easy as Flash is so entrenched and established on the Internet.

They have a lot of catchup to do. But not forgetting Netscape and IE, I won't be discounting Microsoft anytime soon.

For those who wintnessed the so called flash killer back in the days of Macromedia, Adobe did try back then to pull the carpet from under the feet of Macromedia by developping Live Motion, Adobe itself realized soon after that that Flash has gained the ground and hence acquired Macromedia. Microsoft will soon follow...

I watched a presentation of Silverlight at school, at it looks very cool, but as I understand it works with the .Net languages.... and I hate them.

Anyway, probably I'll use it if it gain popularity.

No, Silverlight is a subset of .Net Framework, that can run also HD movies in a browser, using WPF features. So it's not a copy, flash can't do all of this ;)
