does long url hurt position in se much?

    mambo seo just convert long url to short. but is it good to seo? how much benefit I will get from it?it seem to mambo seo have some problem. so it will be closed.but i want to know how much does it hurt se position .

    try to keep your url name lower than 50 characters

    i dont think so, but if you create short urls, your visitors must be happy with that, if you have good website, please dont create websites for SE's, create websites for your visitors.

    The search engines should not be overlooked at all. In fact, for most people, the search engines are either the biggest contrributer or a significant one for their traffic.
