Let say you didn't go to college. Does your life really screw up by that?

not really, i never go to college! usually bunk the classes,
it all deponds on you, if you become rich after that, or atleast you know that you are good enough to get a job or something with out the college, then i think your life don't really get screwed!!

but then, am sure you won't get any good job with out finishing the college, and also you might be at rick of not getting girlfriend:p

Its a difficult question, for example if your like many people around here whom are trying to make a stable income off web projects and affiliate networks then maybe not since the eventual goal is to make enough so you won't have work but if someone doesn't have a set goal and no skills (iron welding, laying bricks) then they are screwed, without college its difficult to secure a management position outside of a fast food restaurant, and move up the employment ladder in companies, infact many administrative assistant positions require a college degree.

Now overall though if you do have a plan or a skill then you'll be fine, for example I worked as a Tech Intern in High School and While I was in college, without even finishing my degree I already had something way more valuable which was experience, the problem with many internships however are they require you to actually be in college, so the average person just looking to gain experience won't have it easy.

I think it depends where you see your life headed, and what you need to get there, or along the way.

Start from the perspective of your final (current) goal and work backwards. Is a degree going to be essential or useful? Could your goal possibly divert somewhere that will then make it more necessary? Will the people controlling the industry you want to become involved in, require, or look more kindly on someone with qualifications? Or is motivation and getting in hands-on experience more valued?

Are you planning to never actually "work for the man", but venture out on your own? Are you suitable educationally equipped for what you plan to do? Would a college degree help, or would some individual courses, or your own study of what is specifically relevant be more useful?

If you see nothing in your future goals that it seems would benefit from tertiary qualifications, then what else might be better? Hands-on experience? Your own personal learning? Could you still study at college, but start your business part time in the meantime?

Look at people who are doing what you want to do- what did they do to get there? Is that still practical in this time? Find mentors and talk to them! Get their opinions and advice. Read books written by people such as Robert Kyosaki and other successful entrepreneurs.

In many cases some qualifications can be good to have to fall back on if necessary. But some people are just not cut out for prolonged study, or are keen to get going with what they perceive as "real life."

    Examples from my family-

My dad, who never got full tertiary qualifications, could not advance beyond a certain level where he worked, even though he was far more skilled and experienced than those who were promoted above him, and brilliant at almost anything.

My brother did not complete much at all of his tertiary qualifications. He now works at a high paid job with special programming for special effects for use in movies, and is in high demand... often traveling to UK or USA for work. Very happy with his work and successful.

My sister did 3 different degrees. Ended up working for many years as a cleaner in a hairdresser, then in a bookshop, as she couldn't get work in her qualified field. Eventually, she now does work sort of in her chosen field, though it is not highly paid and not exactly what she wanted to do.

Myself- no tertiary studies, work (steadily growing success) with my husband on our websites.

My husband, no actual tertiary studies, though some courses in computing and design etc. Worked off and on in low paying short term jobs in this area, now works on our websites.

We now have no immediate need to work outside of this (though we have to keep progressing to keep it this way) and no intention of doing so, unless there is no alternative. What we need to know, we learn as the need arises. Much better motivation to learn than just because it's on the syllabus. :)

Remember, even if you decide not to go to college now, to try whatever it is you want on your own first, in most cases you can always decide to go at a later date. Or if you do go, and decide (after giving it a really good go) that it isn't for you, or if you start a business and it's flourishing, and needs your total attention, then you can leave college. One decision now, doesn't exclude the opposite later. You can change your mind. Make sure you have some money saved to fall back on though, while you are starting out!

Only you can answer what is right for you. Do some research, talk to some people, then make the decision. Good luck- and let us know what you decide and how it turns out!

Honestly education is very important in human's life it was just like a passport, you cannot go to a certain country if you don't have this. And college is somewhat like that. People will look at you based on the degree you have taken good example is when you looking for a job. But the real thing is, college is only a decoration in peoples life, why?

There are things that academic subject could not teach. And that is the natural you, your ability to learn without professors, real people, honest and courageous. Key to success is not always about education and what you have earned.

It's about faith and your belief in self.^_^

I wouldn't want to risk to find out ;)

However.. high school education is needed imo (to develop socially and academically).

You may also hear those many stories of successful people who don't have a college degree at all :)

It is the first job that really require the college degree. Once had a job before, you interviewer won't care about degree that much.

I would say it is much harder to get a first job without a degree if it is tech related

it also depends which field you want to go to

i got a CS degree but fail to find programming job

    Depends,

Depends on what life throws at you,
Some people actually make it big without college.

College life for me is fun, you mix with different people and you get to understand more things. But in order to survive in this world, you need a practical skill, skills that college nor university dont teach you, skills that will make you money, and skilss that help you understand the real meaning of money.

College is good for many things. One of the most important things is that you can get knowledge of something that interest you.

No friend I haven't done college. I would rather say I haven't finished my schools.

SO there is no scope for me in college. Moreover I myself don't want to go to college. :D

No, even without collage one can succeed in life. Most business tycoons in my country never went to collage but they are very successful in business.

It depends totally on what you want to do. More and more often, the fees from Colleges and universities end up haunting more than they help you. There are loads of cool jobs you can do without going to college, it totally depends on what you want to do.

Personally I'm definetly going, admittedly to learn something which I don't ever intend to use, but at least if I need to use it I can just get a decent job with it (hopefully)..
