Yes, if google catches you keyword stuffing, you will hurt your rankings. Most wordpress blogs, have a content checker for whether you are keyword stuffing or not, so try using that to gauge your keyword stuffing.

You don't even have to worry about density. Use your keyword in your title and a couple of times in the article, then simply backlink to rank well for that term. Look at your stats, you'll notice terms you rank well for and it won't even be a true phrase.

Yes, recently google panda given its instructions about keywords stuffing. according to that keywords stuffing will effect you in a negative way and can give wrong impression. it meant that if you stuff keywords in over then google take it negatively. Keywords must be according to content and should not be stuffed.

Keyword stuffing is nothing but stuffing related or unrelated keywords into a webpage repeatedly, as if making the content look good to search engines. Some push in the misappropriate keywords that are not related to image into the alt tags, which are used to display images is also keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing was used in the past to get the best search engine ranking and visibility for particular phrases. Keyword stuffing is no more considered by search engines but rather considered spam.

Keyword stuffing is exactly what the name suggests it to be. It is when you stuff your keywords too much into a sentence that it appears unnatural to both the SE and the human users. This sort of thing is frowned upon by the SE and can also result in a penalty.
