Does keyword prominence really matters on all search engines or it is specific to only Google? How to make sure that keyword priminence techniques have been followed correctly?
I'd have to say that it does matter - then again, I build Web sites for people, not search engines. As for how? That's easy. Include some keywords in your page titles, META descriptions (these won't help your rankings, but they can appear in the search results), keep your content as close to the top of the page as possible (I go by header, menu, content, sidebar(s), footer in my source code and then use CSS to position them where I want using a combination of floats and margins, including negative margins where necessary), use proper semantic markup, and make sure that your main keywords are as close to the top as possible. Of course knowing how to write online helps a lot, and I'm not referring to the fallacy and sham that is "SEO Copywriting" either.
I would say yes Keyword Prominence does matter. It is always good to have your main keywords appearing in the beginning of your page. This can be easily achieved by having main keywords in the menu in the top or in left column. However there might be situation whereas you will not be happy adding the main keywords into menus and this is the point where you have to compromise with SEO. In this case you can have the keywords in the content (non-menu items) at least. It is true that you don't develop website completely for SEO but you can't ignore it either. So you have to keep a balance between these two. Always try to have your main keywords I would say 5-10 not more than that in the top of page. And yes the most important thing to consider is that you have to make sure that the keywords really appear on the top to "Robots" and not to you What appears to be on the top to you might not be the top for search engines. Hope you know how to find out how the search engine sees your website?
Thanks for sharing such excellent information. I dunno how to check how search engine sees my website
Keyword density, except in particular parts of your Web page (title element, headings, anchor link text, and so on) is mostly pointless and a waste of time. It's quickly becoming the mark of a novice "SEO" and is best avoided in your main page copy.
