I planning to add one of my site to 1000 free directories, but question is does it worth it?I know i wont gain any traffic since nobody visits directories. So will i atleast gain better pr if i do that ?
You can end up spending a lot of time for nothing... the potential exists to cause damage as well. Freebie directories (with some exceptions like Dmoz) will not gain you the targeted traffic you need to sell your product(s). You are much better served in gaining an understanding of how to get links correctly.
can you refer us some free directories with high PR as you say that your link dont going to make at least 1 month to aprove???
Try getting the back links with some keywords / keyphrases in your anchor text. Using different anchor texts in back links would make your site search able for the said different terms. FFA and MFA sites are good for nothing and may get your site penalized by SEs so avoid them. Don't think of quantity, but think of quality. See what google says about page rank. PageRank Explained PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at considerably more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important." Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages' relative importance. Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don't match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines dozens of aspects of the page's content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it's a good match for your query.
Directories where never for traffic they are the best way to get backlinks to your site. So if you thinking of adding the site to them for traffic then forget it.
directories are good for one way link building. submit your site and wait. you may see the effect of the directory backlinks in months, not so quickly
Sure, it helps a bit.. but not so much as most people hardly ever visit directories unless they are popular or niche.
yeah.. every links still matters, but with all those bunch of directories does anyone knows how to do it quick? I mean not going on manually to each sites and fill on those frustrating forms...
... And I want to add that it's better to submit your site to the top 30-40-50 directories instead of all 1000. Don't forget to use various anchors and descriptions.
I agree - don't waste your time with the unknown ones.. if you're going to do it - go for quality not quantity.
Im about to start another thread here, only to find this one related to what looking for.. so if you don't mind i would like to know is there any use in paying for directories where there is no page rank in the category section? What i mean is the page rank is high in the homepage but zero at the category page. and.. will it do any good to my search engine ranking?
I belive if you buy a link in directory you can only be penalized since google now penalize link buyers. So i realy dont see sense in paying link in directories.
So its not good to buy link? what if i bought it from other website is it ok? Will i be penalized to? What are your suggestions since google penalize link buying?
I don't believe this to be true. If so, people would just purchase links for their competition and get them penalized.
